Nova Update

Nova is headed to his new home in Florida tonight. He was not happy for me to pick him up and put him in a box.

See?

Shipping is SO stressful! I'll end up checking the FedEx tracking app every few hours until he arrives safely. Once he's "home," my stress level will go back to normal.

Safe travels, Nova! Be a good boy!

Nova -Before & After

Because Nova's tail rot was so bad, he pretty much stopped growing for a month or more. I hadn't realized how much he's grown lately until I found a pic of him March 16th.

Here's a pic of him taken April 30th.

I'm not sure if he'll ever be as big as he could have been, but at least for now he's growing (and shedding).

He's in his "teen" phase now. He loves food and hates being held.

But not Nova

A local pet store (that I adore) took my babies today. I totally trust them to find the twins and Feisty Bits a good home.

But they didn't want Nova because of his stumpy tail. :(

So I brought him back home.

Nova is going through his grumpy teen phase currently. Plus I had to force feed him so he extra-specially hates me too. I'll make sure I keep him & LilBit away from each other so they don't attempt to take me down in the middle of the night! ;)

Sleeping Weirdo

I found Nova like this tonight-- sound asleep.

He's been grumpy lately (I am having this effect on small male beardie) and rather feisty.

Even in his sleep, he's saying "You wanna piece of me? Come at me, Bro!"

8 minutes later he fell off and we put him in a more gentle & peaceful position.

Friday Happiness

Nova woke up and seemed SO much better today. He ate on his own, drank a lot of water, and had his eyes wide open.

Clack got up too. He ate some roaches and then tried to eat my fingers.

I think they are both happy it is Friday! I sure hope they both turned a corner and are healthy now.

Update on my Sicklies

Nova is the most concerning. He hardly moves and almost never opens his eyes all the way. He no longer eats on his own and so I force feed him daily. He goes back to the vet on Monday morning.

Clack is still really lethargic. He eats well though even if he hardly moves. I can't tell if he's sickly or lazy.

Smaug is better though not back to his feisty self. No more throwing up and totally normal pooping.

Nubs is still having completely liquid poop. :( No idea what the issue is. He doesn't have parasites.

I think Nubs might go to the vet too next week so we can find out what's going on with his guts.

All My Little Sicklies

Smaug is completely lethargic this morning. :( He hardly moves and doesn't want to open his eyes. He freaks out when I touch him so I've been leaving him alone.

Raydan has the sad half-eyes he's had since he came. He does move around some, but he's far from healthy.

Nova is making the same expression. He hangs himself off the side of his bridge so his tail is not touching anything. He's on antibiotics now. I'm wondering if the infection spread from his tail into his bloodstream.

For some Good News--

Click was adopted today and I have potential adopters for two others. :)

Update on Nova

With all the emergencies this week, I haven't stopped long enough to post on update on Nova.

He ended up with about an inch of his tail being amputated on Monday.

He's had a hard time adjusting. I can get him to eat, but he won't open his eyes all the way and is lethargic. It's possible the infection in his tail spread into his bloodstream. I'm going to start him on antibiotics to see if that helps.

I may give him Critical Care too when I tube feed Raydan to see if I can help him get extra nutrition.

Nova, rescue 129

Oh look! Another baby!!

I'd like to say that he's happy and smiling, but I'd be lying. Another grumpy one.

This little bugger has a good reason-- he's lost most of his tail to a nasty case of tail rot in the last couple weeks.

He has surgery scheduled on Monday and I suspect he'll lose most of his tail. Hopefully once it's gone and he's feeling better, he will be more friendly.

The rot is unlike anything I've seen before. It doesn't look like a fungal infection, but it certainly is very aggressively killing off the healthy tissue. To be extra safe, he's in major quarantine away from everyone.
