Vet Visits are Poopy

Tuga & Derp still have colds. So they went back to the vet for additional shots. They both HATED it and expressed their displeasure by peeing all over the scale and pooping on the floor.

Awesome.

Here's a mad Derp--

Here's a mad Tuga--

Katy also got a blood test to see if she's doing better. She certainly acts better! Hopefully she can go home this week.

And little Nova is at the vet having his tail amputated. More info later.

Update on Click & Clack

When I got these two last weekend, I was pretty sure that Click would take longer to heal than Clack. This week has proven me wrong.

Click has be in active and alert. He's even got a little belly. He's not really into being held because he prefers to run around and explore.

Clack has become really mellow and not interested in eating. He's discovered he LOVES being swaddled in his new blankie. :(  Not sure what's going on with him.

They are in my bedroom with my other babies and Skye & Katy. It's my sick room & nursery.

Top shelf-- left to right-- Click, Dragon, Remy.

Bottom shelf-- left to right-- Clack, Skye

Off to the left out of sight-- Katy.

Katy is Looking Better

Yesterday Katy decided she was hungry and ate a bunch of Bearded Dragon Bites. That was a great and surprising improvement!

This morning she's having a long drink in her bath.

Overall, she's so much more alert than she has been. She walks around her sick tank and watches things more closely. Today was her 4th antibiotic shot and she's not needing force feedings or saline injections any more. Her tummy is a bit pudgy now too.

All great signs!!

Sicklies Update

Skye is doing great. It's been a week since she had her egg follicles and oviducts removed.

Clack is doing great. I have had few concerns about him.

Click is still struggling. I've been feeding him baby food squash with very little protein. Tonight I gave him a saline shot so he has some extra hydration in his body. He's not bad, but it will be awhile before he's healthy.

Katy has had a few up times, but is mostly pretty still. She looks a little better. Her skin is so thin and fragile that it's hard to give her saline injections. She finished her first deworming treatments and has had 3 antibiotic shots. It still is unknown if we'll be able to improve her kidney functions enough for her to go home.

Katy Update

Katy's blood results came back with bad news. It appears she is experiencing kidney failure. Once again I'm dealing with a young Beardie who has kidney problems.

Dr Echols gave me a comprehensive treatment plan for her. Antibiotics, dewormer, saline solution, force feeding Critical Care, flaxseed oil, and another dewormer. We're going to give her this care for two weeks and see if we can get some weight on her.

I also put her in the window for some direct sunshine therapy.

It's going to be a lot of work the next two weeks, but hopefully we can get her healthy again and boost her weak kidneys. Sometimes it can be an infection or a parasite infestation that can wipe out a beardie and overtax their kidneys.

PS- I still plan to post about Beardie eggs  when I have more time.

Huge Difference!

Look at these pics of Katy taken on February 7th of this year-- 3 short weeks ago!!

And pics from yesterday and today--

I cannot believe the difference in her. We are still waiting for bloodwork results to try and figure out what is happening to her.

:(

Sickly Katy

One of my dear friend's has been going through a divorce and is now a single mom of 4 kids. Yesterday she sent me pics of her beloved beardie who is obviously unwell. :(

I coached my friend on how to help sweet Katy yesterday, but I wasn't sure if she'd even make it through the night. After so many losses and changes lately, my friend and her kids could not bear the thought of losing their beardie. There was lots of sobbing. I felt terrible.

It was a great relief to hear Katy made it through the night. I dropped off my kids at school and drove 30 mins one way to meet my friend and get her beardie.

Katy is at the vet now reviewing fluids for dehydration and having her blood tested. She looks very bad, but I have no idea what's going on.

I know she's in good hands now and they will do whatever they can to save her life. I hope she's able to pull through this- whatever it is.

I'll keep you posted.
