4 Months of Derp at my House

Derp is my buddy's sulcata tortoise who has grown crazy fast!

This is Derp on February 10, 2016.

This is Derp today less than 4 months later.

She is almost bigger than Heidi now. Sulcatas grow FAST!!!

Vet Visits are Poopy

Tuga & Derp still have colds. So they went back to the vet for additional shots. They both HATED it and expressed their displeasure by peeing all over the scale and pooping on the floor.

Awesome.

Here's a mad Derp--

Here's a mad Tuga--

Katy also got a blood test to see if she's doing better. She certainly acts better! Hopefully she can go home this week.

And little Nova is at the vet having his tail amputated. More info later.

Colorful Tortoises??

I hate that this post is even required, but I must say this--

If you want a colorful tortoise, then BUY one. Do not paint a Baby tortoise's shell with craft paint or let your kids paint the shell with fingernail polish.

It is extremely toxic and will make the tortoise sickly and/or die.

See poor Derp's shell? After a half dozen scrubbings, she's still got toxic fingernail polish stuck to her shell. :(

Derp, Pancake, and Tiny Tim all came to me with painted shells. :( Please don't.

Tortoise Invasion

Yes, I have a lot of tortoises. :)

Derp says "Food?" No!

Otis says "Food?" No!!

Roadblock in front of the heater vent.

Heidi and Derp are almost twins.

The tortoises are fascinated by Hermy who is like the cool big sister who wants to be left ALONE!!

Lil Foot the Bigger hung out with Hermy last summer. He used to snuggle up behind her at night and drive her crazy. He found her spot within hours of being here the other day-- she was not happy to woken up!

Tuga discovered Hermy this morning. I tried to make a barrier.

I went back 5 mins later and he was snuggled up to her again. Poor Hermy!

The other favorite is cuddled in a blankie that's covering my hubby's sound board.

Heidi always wanders around for awhile and then snuggles up to sleep. Today she found Lil Foot the Bigger was already there.
