Newt Update

Newt has been slowly plugging along-- not hugely better but not any worse.

Yesterday I lowered his lights so he's able to get warmer and that seemed to help perk him up some. The. He tried to eat my temp probe and I was able to get him to eat a cricket. Woo hoo!

Today I saw him drinking water off his leaves. Hooray! :)

An Angel.... of course

Guess who, within moments of being in her new home, was opening her mouth (by herself) and eating worms (by herself) and drinking (by herself)?

Yup. Miss Prissy Pants, diva prima donna.

See how she's not cowering in fear? See how she's not puffed up or hissing?

Look at how brilliant she is by drinking from a water bottle (that she hated at my house)!

I am laughing & groaning at the same time. She is just showing all of us that she truly is home now.

A Day for Good News

I've been so worried about Newt who has seemed to not be improving the last few days.

Today he surprised me! I put a temperature probe near him in his cage and he tried to eat it! Wow.

I was able to get him to eat a cricket and then gave him some Critical Care and calcium syrup. :) The superworms are too fast for him to catch right now so I'll pick up some Phoenix worms today.

I moved his lights around so he can get warmer if he wants to. I hope to see him start to improve now.

I've agonized over whether to put him down or not, but my gut feeling didn't feel right. Now I know why. Not counting this guy out!!

Wouldn't it be a miracle if he was able to pull through?

Prissy made it!

After a long and stressful night of waiting and waiting and waiting and praying and praying and praying and praying, Prissy made it to Georgia!

And, bless her diva heart, the first picture taken is of her giving her new momma the stink eye!

Ha, ha, ha, ha!

And now she starts her "Happily Ever After."

Stink Eye

Remember back when Ramses (the Evilen Froggen) gave me the stink eye?

Well, tonight I got the stink eye from Miss Prissy Pants. She was NOT amused when I put her in her shipping cup.

Sorry, Baby! And, knowing me, I'll stress about the Diva Prima Donna until she arrived safely in her new home. :)

The Time has Come! Shipping Day!

Miss Prissy Pants was supposed to stay for two days. Due to bad weather, she's stayed for 3 weeks!!

But the weather is good and it's time for her to go to her new home!

I'm excited and nervous! I'm sure she'll be fine, but I'll still worry until she is safe and sound in Georgia.

Here's her last time crawling through my blinds and then shrinking in fear when I get near her!

Good bye, Miss Prissy Pants! Be happy & healthy & try to be less stubborn!!

Morning Update

Good news and Bad news to report.

Turbo is doing great and enjoying the morning sun.

Newt threw up in the middle of the night, which is a super bad sign. :(

I am now trying to raise the money to pay off the $888 I put on my credit card yesterday for both of these guys' vet visits. Will you please consider making a small donation? Thank you!

Update on Newt

Newt went to visit my vet today. Poor baby has been very lethargic the past two days.

Dr Folland believes Newt's not currently strong enough to hold up his own body. His Metabolic Bone Disease is severe.

They did a blood draw on him to test his blood calcium levels. He did NOT like the blood draw!

As I held him, every so often Newt would vibrate to remind me he was very unhappy. It was so adorable!

His calcium levels are normal (thanks to lots of supplements in the last 4 days) and so Newt got an injection of Calcitonin to help encourage his bones to re absorb the calcium.

Now we just wait. I will continue to force feed him twice a day and take him in the sun daily. I hope he's able to pull through.

More Pics of Finn

Finn is doing great. His scabs haven't grown back and he's quite adorable. He's decided that he likes being wrapped in a blankie at night.

Oh, and he might actually be a girl, but I haven't taken the time to check for sure. :)

Turbo's Surgery was Successful

(NOTE: Guess what? Turbo is actually a boy. He's about half the size he should be and looks more like a female. But he's a boy. Just to clarify the difference between this post & the last one on him)

Turbo went to see my awesome vet today. His surgery was a two part procedure.

The first step was removing the large blood clot on the back of his head. Until the vet stopped a vessel from bleeding they had to bind his head tightly. As long as I held him and rocked him, he stayed calm and didn't try to scratch at his face.

The second step was to sedate him and find out what was going on in his eye.

It turns out that Turbo had a massive hematoma (blood clot) that started in his eyeball and spread into his face. Sadly, the eye was dead and had to be removed.

He will have a week with external stitches and internal gauze in his incision along with antibiotic shots.

In a week, we'll remove the gauze. In a few weeks, we'll surgically remove some of the dead skin and extra tissue on the back of his head.

We expect him to have a full & complete recovery.

Good news!
