I found out early this morning that SweetPea passed away sometime last night. :( She was such a special beardie and was loved by everyone who met her. I'm heartbroken for her owner who loved her to pieces.

Turf War
Once upon a time, Sancho's "spot" in the house was the kitchen window. He liked it there and spent all day there (as long as there was sun).
See?
Then one day on his "walk-abouts," he discovered an upstairs bedroom window. That is his new "spot." He waits until I leave the house or turn my back and then he makes a break for it.
He can climb the stairs without any problems. He doesn't know that he's handicapped. ;)
If the door is shut, he scratches at it until someone opens it.
He climbs up there all by himself, handicaps and all. Impressive, huh?
And this is where he stays until the sun goes down and I take him back downstairs. I usually wait until the sun is gone from the window, but sometimes even I pull him down after the sun has passed, he will still crawl back upstairs.
Lizzie, our oldest beardie, HATES sharing the window and the room with Sancho. Because that was HIS window and Sancho took it from him. He freaks out the second Sancho climbs up the last stair. So I've taken to bringing Lizzie down to Sancho's first window to keep the peace.
Poor Lizzie.

Update on Tiger
Tiger is loving his new life. He eats great, he runs around my house, he basks in the sunshine, he goes outside to an outdoor cage, he snuggles in his blankies (sometimes) to go to sleep. He is already putting on weight and is SO much more alert and active.
He still has his moments when he startles & puffs up when I reach to get him. I just laugh at him and tell him he's a feisty boy. He's come so far in such a short time. He doesn't even look like the picture when I first got him, huh?
More Clothes Fun
I had a request on my Etsy shop to make a graduation cap & gown. It took a couple practice tries to get it right, they finally turned out great.
I found some fun pink fabric in the clearance remanent section at Joann's and knew I had to make a pretty Princess party dress. I was the only one who thought it was adorable-- Lizzie did *not* want to play dress up this morning.

Sun time for Tiger
Tiger went outside for the very first time today. At first he was a bit spooked out, but then he buried his head under his blankie and went to sleep. He relaxed on my shirt and soaked up the warm sun. It was awesome to watch his native bearded dragon instincts kick in.
Seriously-- the BEST thing you can do for your beardies and other reptiles is to let them get lots of direct sunshine when it is warm enough. Windows filter out the UVB so it must be directly on them. They love it and it will make them healthier & happier. As summer approaches, please consider getting your beardies an outdoor cage (NEVER a glass tank) but an old bird cage or rat cage that they can sit in and bask. They need a shady area, water, and enough heat. My big boys *LOVE* their summer tanks and they are healthier all year because of it.
Sweet Frankie
Another pet lost today. 4 pets dying in just under a month. Frankie appeared to have a stroke or something. I held him at the vet while he died.

Tiger, rescue number 51
It's been quiet around here lately and I haven't had much to post. Losing 3 pets in 10 days took its toll on me and I've tried to be low-key to recover. Today, after quite a bit of coordination, I took in Tiger.
Tiger is supposedly over a year, but is SO very small. He's been on sand (yuck! bad!) in a 10 gallon tank in a basement. I saw this pic online and knew I had to rescue him:

Thankfully, Tiger is not as bad as I feared. He doesn't have a lot of stamina because he's been on a junk diet for the last month and has been too cold. He got a bath tonight, got weighed on my scale, and got a manicure/pedicure. He's not very social at all and does NOT like to be held. Most beardies socialize pretty quickly once they realize that someone loves them so I expect him to adjust fine.
He does have some amount of Metabolic Bone Disease. Besides being super stunted, a few of his toes are rather wonky. I'll get him outside in the sunshine so he can have that. I can barely begin to tell you how amazing it is for your reptiles to get direct sunshine. BEST THING YOU CAN DO FOR THEM!
Tomorrow I'll try feeding him some greens and maybe a wax worm or two to see how he does. Once he poops, I'll do a fecal test for him. His vent is rather puffy so I wonder if he's got some parasites or something.
I'll keep you posted. :)
